Annealing refers to the heating and cooling of steel for the targeted adjustment of properties. In bell annealing, several coils are treated in an inert gas atmosphere, often with hydrogen, over several days. Two processes are particularly important in cold-rolled strip production: soft annealing reduces hardness and strength for better formability, while recrystallization annealing restores the crystal structure after cold forming.

The BROCKHAUS steel cold rolling mill produces rolled products with the tightest thickness tolerances and high-quality surfaces. From input thicknesses of up to 16 mm, we produce cold-rolled strip in fine blanking quality up to 0.8 mm. During cold rolling, the steel is formed below the recrystallization temperature, resulting in high precision and uniform properties. Subsequent annealing and re-rolling gives the material its smooth surface and excellent quality.

Narrower strips, known as rings or slit strips, are produced from a coil by slitting. In slitting, also known as splitting, we can handle material thicknesses from 0.8 to 16 mm with the best cutting quality and maximum precision. In certain applications, the cut edge can be used directly as a functional edge.

As a strongly service-oriented company, we are also active as a subcontractor for our customers. In contract processing, we can anneal, roll and slit our customers' material on request.
