BHS - BROCKHAUS high-performance steel

Efficiency is a decisive factor in the modern automotive industry. BROCKHAUS high-performance steel (BHS) is the answer when it comes to material efficiency. It combines high component strength with excellent formability, offering simultaneous weight and cost advantages.
BHS
| Rp0,2, longitudinal [MPa] | Rm, longitudinal [MPa] | A80 [%] | |
| BHS 600 | ≥ 600 | 650 – 800 | ≥ 12 |
| BHS 700 | ≥ 700 | 750 – 900 | ≥ 10 |
| BHS 800 | ≥ 800 | 850 – 1.000 | ≥ 8 |
| BHS 1000 | ≥ 1000 | 1050 – 1200 | ≥ 5 |

Technical Features
The special mill grade “BHS” is based on micro-alloyed fine-grain steels and is characterized by high strength and the resulting pronounced wear resistance.
A key advantage is that no subsequent heat treatment is required to achieve the desired performance properties. This eliminates distortions that could otherwise significantly affect shape and positional tolerances.
Despite their very high strength and a yield strength ratio (Rp₀.₂/Rm) of up to 95%, BHS grades maintain sufficient formability for a wide range of manufacturing processes.
Thanks to the combination of high strength and toughness, weight savings of up to 50% can be achieved in the final product.
