Our Story
A 160 year legacy
1864
Founding
Peter Friedrich Julius Brockhaus founded the company “Friedrich Brockhaus” in Oestertal (Wiesenthal) for the production of wire mesh and household goods. This enterprise later developed into the forge Brockhaus Söhne.
1909
Cold rolling mill
Establishment of the cold rolling mill to supply materials for the company’s in-house tube production.
1958
New foundations
Present-day Brockhaus Lennetal was founded as a steel trading company. Six years later, what is now Brockhaus Messtechnik began operations with its first strip thickness measuring devices.
2001
Reorganization
The forge was sold, along with parts of the cold rolling mill. Dirk Brockhaus consolidated what is now Kaltwalzwerk Brockhaus Stahl with Brockhaus Lennetal and Brockhaus Messtechnik, thereby continuing the family tradition as sole shareholder.
2009
Realignment
In 2009, Caspar Brockhaus joined the companies. In 2010, the brand and corporate structure as it is known today was initiated.
2019
Sustainability & Internationalization
BROCKHAUS has been CO₂-neutral since 2019. In 2020, the subsidiary “BROCKHAUS Polska” was established in Częstochowa, Poland.
