Areas of the dual study program

You will complete your dual study program here

A dual study program combines practical experience in the company with theory at a university and additional lessons at a vocational school. This means that you gain professional experience right from the start, take on tasks in everyday working life and apply what you have learned directly in practice. At the same time, you will acquire in-depth specialist knowledge at the university and complete your studies with a recognized academic degree. This close integration of theory and practice means that you will be ideally prepared to start your career after graduation.

Study at the FOM University

With us, you have the opportunity to complete a dual study program at the FOM University of Applied Sciences for Economics and Management in Dortmund or Siegen, either in attendance or completely online. The Business Administration (B.A.) course, which lasts 7 semesters (3.5 years), is typical. However, in consultation with our HR department, you can also choose another suitable course of study for you. We will pay the tuition fees for you. Lectures usually take place on 1-2 evenings during the week (18:00-21:15) and on Saturdays. Two consecutive sessions are also possible on Saturdays, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., including a generous break. With a dual study program with us, you combine theoretical knowledge with practical experience, a strong basis for your professional future. After your bachelor's degree, you also have the option of completing your master's degree while working.

Your apprenticeship at BROCKHAUS

A varied and practical apprenticeship awaits you at BROCKHAUS. You will be integrated into the team right from the start, take on responsibility and can contribute your own ideas - for example at events, on the trainee page or in marketing. You will change departments every three to five months. Your work schedule will be based on your interests and strengths, allowing you to get to know the four business divisions and acquire a broad range of commercial knowledge. Stations include Head Office, Financial Accounting, Human Resources, Purchasing, Marketing and departments from Recycling, Environmental Technology and Steel. Highlights include visits to trade fairs, a stay at the site in Poland and joint activities such as trainee excursions, barbecues, soccer tournaments and the AOK company run. Your working week comprises five days: you are released from work on vocational school days and work in your department on the other days. This gives you 2.5 years of solid preparation for your professional life.

Your training at the vocational school

In addition to the practical training in the company, you will attend vocational school two days a week, which you can choose individually. The main focus there is on the subjects of business processes, economic and social processes, and commercial management and control, supplemented by German, English, mathematics, politics, religion, and sports. This provides you with an ideal combination of theoretical knowledge and practical experience. You also have the option of shortening your training period to two years. After about one year, you will take an intermediate examination, which counts for 20% of your final grade. At the end of the 2.5-year apprenticeship, you will take the final exam, which consists of three written and one oral examination.
