CO₂ neutral since 2019

Environmental awareness is an integral part of our corporate strategy.
The BROCKHAUS Group has been climate-neutral since 2019.
 

While current technology does not yet allow us to operate completely CO₂-free, we take responsibility by systematically measuring and offsetting all unavoidable emissions.
 

Every year, we calculate our carbon footprint and offset it by purchasing Verified Carbon Units in accordance with the Verra Standard — the world’s largest voluntary greenhouse gas offsetting program.

Analyze CO₂ emissions
We draw up a precise annual CO₂ balance sheet with ecocockpit. This serves not only as a measurement tool, but also as a basis for future savings. All emissions are recorded in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol in Scopes 1-3.

Reduce CO₂ emissions
As part of our continuous improvement process (CIP), we implement small, short-term reduction projects as well as long-term initiatives based on future technologies. This enables us to make steady progress towards CO₂-free processes.

Offset CO₂ emissions
We fully offset unavoidable emissions by purchasing Verified Carbon Units (VCUs) in accordance with the Verra standard. Our offsetting is carried out in particular via a REDD+ rainforest conservation project in the Amazon region, which offers social co-benefits in addition to climate protection and supports six UN sustainability goals.

Closed-loop partnership
Together with Salzgitter AG, we have concluded a closed-loop agreement. This creates a closed material cycle: Hot-rolled coils are processed, production scrap is recycled and fed back into steel production. In this way, we make a direct contribution to CO₂ reduction along the entire value chain.

Our commitment is underlined by a comprehensive environmental management system and certifications such as CCF and pPCF. These standards confirm the transparency and effectiveness of our climate protection measures.

Fitness center for employees

Our in-house BROCKHAUS gym is available to all employees free of charge - for training before work, during the lunch break or after work. With modern equipment, professional support and individually adaptable training options, we actively promote the health, motivation and well-being of our teams.

Human rights and labor standards

The BROCKHAUS Group stands for fair, safe and respectful working conditions. We strictly reject all forms of forced and child labor and base our actions on the international ILO standards. The right to unionization and collective bargaining is expressly recognized. This responsibility applies not only to our own sites, but also to our entire supply chain; our partners share and meet the same high standards.
