An upstream tank of an API separator had to be taken out of operation for maintenance work. Under normal conditions, this tank separates free oil from the water and removes it by means of a float-controlled skimmer.

Due to the shutdown of the tank, there was a risk that the API separator and the downstream treatment units could become hydraulically and materially overloaded.

The BROCKHAUS CPI was in continuous operation from November 2022 to July 2024 and fully replaced the function of the original tank. The API basin and the downstream treatment units were protected from overload, all light liquids were reliably retained, and stable and safe plant operation was ensured during the maintenance phase.
 

As an alternative to using the BROCKHAUS CPI, it would have been necessary to remove the oil phase several times a day using a vacuum truck. By operating the BROCKHAUS CPI continuously, these measures were avoided, resulting in cost savings of approximately €700k.
